Darkly compelling yet sweetly rendered acoustic rock.
I am a San Francisco area songwriter/guitarist/singer. My music might be described as acoustic rock, but it involves many differnent styles, and takes influence from many genres. I write mostly on acoustic, but use plenty of electric guitar elements when recording. I try to find and give the listener something coursing with true emotion, something that rocks, yet is delicate, something that challenges the mind, something that has poetic dimensions and something sweet to the ear. My music has been compared, stylistically, to Porcupine Tree, Pink Floyd, mellower Opeth, REM, the Moody Blues and Live. Mac Leckrone is my partner in creating music. He does all drumming and synth parts.

Story behind the song
I wrote these lyrics not long after I had been exposed to Noe Venable's work. I loved her lyrics, and in some ways I may have been trying to channel her style a little bit. Imagine a despairing winged figure soaring high above London's sooty chimneys at midnight. Starless, severed, so alone. I often write lyrics by listening to the mood of the music, then just waiting for some key words to zing out of heaven to fit the mood. Then going on filling in colors and concepts. On this song, I like the line “I can only feel nothing.” I have been saving that line for ages, waiting for the right song to come along. The final line “Free to fly, free to fall” is somewhat derived from an obscure Heather Nova song called “Flying as She Falls.” But that song has never been officially released, so only you and I are a aware of that point of inspiration.
